P.S A BESS can absorb that surplus in milliseconds, which is what arrests the frequency rise. Not free, though: the round trip gives back only 85–90% of what it takes in, the cycle costs life, and it can only absorb if it has headroom — a plant sitting near full state of charge has nowhere to put it.
