Saudi Arabia (SAGC) — ride-through requirements

The LVRT, HVRT, FRT envelopes a grid-scale battery must meet under Saudi Arabia (SAGC) (Saudi Arabia), digitized breakpoint by breakpoint and checked against the clause it came from.

Part of: the grid-code ride-through chart — compare this against 63 other standards in 42 countries.

What this is, and is not. A reading aid compiled from the clause cited below — not a compliance document. The primary text governs. Every value here was read from a current primary source.

Breakpoints

Times are seconds from the start of the disturbance. Voltage is per-unit of nominal; frequency in hertz. An LVRT curve is a lower boundary (stay connected while voltage is on or above it), an HVRT curve an upper boundary, and FRT gives the band between its High and Low boundaries.

Event Duty Breakpoints Status
low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) ride-through 0.001s → 0 pu; 0.3s → 0 pu; 0.301s → 0.13 pu; 0.63s → 0.13 pu; 0.631s → 0.4 pu; 0.97s → 0.4 pu; 0.971s → 0.67 pu; 1.3s → 0.67 pu; 1.301s → 0.9 pu verified
high-voltage ride-through (HVRT) ride-through 0.001s → 1.2 pu; 1s → 1.2 pu; 1.001s → 1.1 pu verified
frequency ride-through (FRT) ride-through High: 0.1s → 62.5 Hz; 30s → 62.5 Hz; 30.001s → 61.5 Hz; 1800s → 61.5 Hz; 1800s → 60.5 Hz | Low: 0.1s → 57 Hz; 30s → 57 Hz; 30.001s → 57.5 Hz; 1800s → 57.5 Hz; 1800s → 58.8 Hz verified

  • LVRT Saudi Arabian Grid Code, Updated Version February 2022, Chapter 2 (Connection Code), clause 2.5.5.23(b)(ii) and Figure 2.5 'Voltage Withstand Capability Diagram' (p.34); continuous/30-min band from clause 2.4.3.
  • HVRT The Saudi Arabian Grid Code, 2nd Electronic Update Oct 2016, clause 2.5.5.21: 'The Renewable Resource Generating Unit shall remain connected to the Network and continue stable operation if none of the phases exceeds 120% of nominal voltage for more than 1s'; clause 2.5.5.20(b)(ii) upper-side wording and Figure 2.3; steady-state ceiling per 2.4.3 = 1.1 pu.
